📖 Objective

The Traffic Regulatory Committee is the official committee formed to resolve traffic issues and ensure road safety in gram panchayats across Kerala. The committee operates based on the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act and Motor Vehicle Rules.

👥 Office Bearers

  • Chairman : Panchayat President
  • Convener : Representative nominated by the District Police Chief

🏛 Members

  • Motor Vehicle Department Representative (Joint RTO / MVI)
  • PWD Roads Wing Assistant Engineer
  • Revenue Department Representative (Nominated by the District Collector)

✅ Key Responsibilities

  • 🚕 Determine locations for auto and taxi stands.
  • 🚧 Grant approval for signboards, speed breakers, and no-parking zones.
  • 🚫 Regulate unauthorized parking and roadside vending.
  • 🏫 Evaluate traffic safety around school premises.
  • 🚦 Take final decisions on traffic management within the panchayat.

This committee meets as needed. However, the committee meeting must be convened at least once every six months.
